Slaves in the US resisted slavery in several ways. The methods came into being with the arrival of first slaves in North America in 1619. The practice of slavery created an economic system which lasted till 1865, and then it was abolished by the thirteen amendments. But before the abolition of slavery, there were very few methods available to the slaves for resisting slavery. The first method was to rebel against the slaveholders, the second method was to run away and the other methods were small everyday acts of resistance which included slowing down the work. The Stono rebellion of 1739 and Nat Turner's rebellion of 1831 were the most famous slave revolts in American history.
