Why is the case of marbury v. madison significant

Marbury v. Madison was a court case that established the U.S. Supreme Court's power of judicial review. It did so because an act of Congress attempted to give the U.S. Supreme Court more authority than it rightfully had according to the U.S. Constitution, which was the supreme law of the land.
