The Berlin wall was a wall (clearly) that separated Easy Germany from West German. This was indeed build in the 1960's.

This wall was assembled to keep East Germans from going into the West. This became made after the end of World War II. The Allied powers decided to break down Germany into four areas, which were either engaged by the United States, Great Britain, USSR, or France. During that date after the war, West Germany was bearable while East Germany became filled with factory equipment, weapons, etc. It wasn't long until the civilians in East Germany wanted to get out of there, so this is when the Berlin Wall came in place. Before the wall was up, East Germany lost over 2.5 million people due to the inhabitable area.
