Lee’s army was pitted against general McClellan's army of Potomac and it was Lee’s last attempt to invade North. Next morning, Lee begin the painstaking job and moved his troops back to Virginia but on the other hand McClellan did nothing. He kept union troops out of Richmond because McClellan was too cautious.
