Whose needs did the populist party most clearly represent?

Farmers--the Populist Party was a party for the people but particularly the rural common man. 

The Populist Party formed to gain more economic rights against big business during the Gilded Age. They wanted government regulated railroads and telegraphs, silver added to currency, direct election of senators, and a graduated income tax. 

That really sucks, but i don't know who your leader is, and i don't want to write that much
