How did political realignment change as a result of the great depression and new deal?

The democratic party  become a dominant majority party, as its message went well with the poor and the middle class.
 The republican party lost control of senate and congress for over five decades in a row.
 The new deal championed by the democratic party catapulted Roosevelt D. to three terms in office.
 The new deal alleviated the suffering of a majority of the population.

These islands/chinampas then provided rich soil for crops with easy access to water. i hope this is correct, im so sorry if its not !
