Why would education and training make a difference to a soldier entering the war?

Education and training would make a huge difference on a soldier going into war. 

One reason being with proper training if they are held up in a potentially intense and life threatening situation they will know what to do and to stay clam during the situation.

Good education can lead the solider to making smarter choices in certain situations where as a less educated soldier may take poor choices in the line of combat.

Then again not many people with good education end up in war :)
