Courthouse. The Courthouse acted as the center and hub of the city. Look at the design of most towns. The Courthouse was at the center. The Courthouse often sat in the middle of the town square. This allowed for easier access to the people of the town. As towns and cites grew, the courthouse was often overlooked or moved as the traffic and population moved to another area of the town.
