How did confucianism and daoism develop different solutions during the warring states period

The main difference between the two is that Confucianism is a philosophy while Taoism is   a religion with multiple deities and was founded by different people.
 the two philosophies offered solutions albeit differently and their often complimentary views served to unite the warring kingdoms.
 the effect of the two philosophies was a new focus into intellectualism often competing with each other,but with Confucianism emerging dominant.
