What was america's stance on immigration in the 1920's what groups were excluded?

America's stance on immigration changed during the 1920's. Before this time, America was known as a land of opportunity where immigrants from all over can come to start a new life. However, due to the increase in nativism, this idea changed in the 1920's.

Nativism is a concept based around protecting the interests, wants, and needs of native born citizens over immigrants. Nativists usually feared or were angry at immigrants coming into the US, as they felt they would try to change American society or would take their job. This resulted in the passing of the Immigration Act of 1924. This limited the amount of immigrants from specific countries.This law allowed for a significant amount of citizens from Germany and Great Britain to come in. However, the following countries were limited to 100 people per country:

1) Syria
2) Egypt
3) Turkey
