British Navy instituted the blockade in attempt to stop this and parliament passed ‘Intolerable Act’ which was a response to ‘Boston Tea Party’ that took place in December 1773. They also opposed the fact that East India Company was given more advantages as compared to colonial tea importers who had fear of loosing their own business.
