How did young people energize the civil rights movement in the 1960’s

Young people energized the Civil Rights movement in dramatic fashion. A perfect example of this would be the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). This was a group developed by college students that participated in nonviolent protests.

An example of this would be the four college students who staged a sit-in at a Woolworth's restaurant in North Carolina. These students were protesting against the segregated seating arrangements at this restaurant. After hearing their stories, other college students joined them. These students continually rotated in order to make sure that there was a black citizen/student sitting at the lunch counter in protest. Eventually, Woolworth's got rid of their segregated seating policy.
