The Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower is a building in Paris, named after Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower. It was built between 1887 and 1889 for the 1889 World's Fair. Although it was initially heavily criticized, it has become a cultural icon of France. Eiffel declared that the tower symbolized:
