1. The speaker of this poem is the person talking about all activities she does to get through the day and who is the apparent daughter of the mother that has been seemingly keeping her locked in. The tone of the speaker from lines 1-22 is upbeat and wistful as the speaker is still keeping a jolly and optimistic attitude throughout the poem, while also finding different things to do to keep busy while searching for answers.

2.I think repetition is used in lines 23-24 to bring importance and create emphasis on the fact that the speaker is continuously wondering and yearning for an answer as to when her life will begin or when she will have more freedom. My inference is that she is “wonderin” when she will finally get the freedom she’s been looking for and get to experience and do the things she’s always wanted to do, as opposed to having to look for things to do with no choice but to be bored.
