Taking you knowledge of rights, purposes, and values involving law, you will now construct your own proposed law that attempts to solve an issue.
Here is how you need to approach this:
1. Find an issue that you wish to solve.
2. Do some Internet research over the issue. Gather information, data, and statistics that show that your law is
needed to solve the issue. For example, if you wish legalize marijuana, then you may want to use information
that shows how much money state's can make from taxing it (to fund schools, roads, welfare, etc.) and/or
statistics that show how there is no crime associated with marijuana use.
3. Write your law. Remember, it has to have a specific goal (what is it designed to actually do) and cannot be
vague. No one should have to guess what your law does or does not do.
4. Your law must include PURPOSES. I have supplied the reading passage over the Purposes of Law below.
5. Take all of your information and write it in a professional manner within the FORMS SUBMISSION (link is
provided below) OR you may submit a WORD DOCUMENT,
Use both the models AND the scoring guide (attached) to help guide you.
6. Please seek me out if you need any clarification, guidance, or help. When this project is done in the
classroom, I'm always "nosey" to see what your laws are about and to offer suggestions. So contact me if you
want to run something by me.
7. You do not need to cite your information.
