A growing number of large police departments have begun requiring applicants for their academies to have previously received at a minimum an associate’s degree and preferably a bachelor’s degree in accounting, a foreign language, biology, chemistry, or another relevant academic area. In no less than 250-words, first discuss your thoughts regarding the advantages and disadvantages associated with requiring candidates for the police academy to have some level of college before beginning the academy, and then explain which areas of academic preparation would most benefit you if you were to enter the academy to pursue a career in a specific area of law enforcement that you also describe.
