Tom is working on a woodworking project at home. he is building a table and needs five even pieces 3/5 of a foot long and you cut a 2 1/4 feet long piece from a 4 foot piece already does tom have enough wood to finish his project

Lets convert our quantities to decimal form first:

From the 1.75 piece he can cut ; similarly, since he needs even pieces, we can discard the decimal part of the result; therefore, he can cut 2 pieces.
From both pieces, he can cut 2+3=5 pieces.

We can conclude that he has enough wood left to finish his project.
