you solve this equation  by taking the logarithm (can be base-10, base-e, whatever) of both sides so that we can use the logarithm law  to move the x down from the exponent. then we want to move all the x terms together so that we can factor out x from an entire side. then we divide both sides by what's attached to the x to fully isolate x.
