To solve this problem you can think of a standard form of equation for straight line:

y=mx+b, m=slope, b=y-intercept.

For given problem:

x=amt of sugar in tons=S

m=$100/ton  

b=$2800 initial fixed cost

y=total cost=C

C=100S+2800
