Someone me with this algebra 2 question

We know that if Two Complex Numbers (p + qi) and (a + bi) are said to be Equal then (p = a) and (q = b)

Given : (2x + 5) + (1 - y)i = -3 - 4i

⇒ 2x + 5 = -3

⇒ 2x = -3 - 5

⇒ 2x = -8

⇒ x = -4
