From the Pythagorean theorem

HG = sqrt ( 1^2+ 4^2) = sqrt(17)

Similarly

EF = sqrt(17)

So Perimeter =

                       6              +       8             + sqrt(17)         + sqrt(17)

                      = 14 + 2 sqrt(17)
