find a functional element in your home that has a slope. it could be the grade of a driveway, the slope of a sewer line, or the rise and run of a staircase. khianna used this wheelchair ramp:
part 1: describe the sloped element you have chosen. you can attach a photograph of it if you wish.
measure the rise and the run of the sloped object you have chosen.
rise:
run:
use the rise and run you measured to calculate the slope.
slope:
does the object you measured have a consistent slope throughout? if it does, you can prove it with similar triangles.
in a constant slope, all right triangles created by a section of the sloped line, and its rise and run over that distance, will be similar.
