Amath class is having a discussion on how to determine if the expressions 4x-x+ 5 and 8-3x-3 are equivalent using
substitution. the class has suggested four different methods.
which describes the correct method?
both expressions should be evaluated with one value. if the final values of the expressions are both positive, then the two
expressions must be equivalent.
both expressions should be evaluated with one value. if the final values of the expressions are the same, then the two
expressions must be equivalent.
o both expressions should be evaluated with two different values. if for each substituted value, the final values of the
expressions are positive, then the two expressions must be equivalent.

Radii ok and nl are perpendicular to om because of the radius-tangent theorem. by definition of perpendicular, angles kom and lnm are right angles. this means that triangles kom and lnm are right triangles. angle lmn is common to both right triangles, so by the triangles kom and lnm are similar.

Afactory makes propeller drive shafts for ships. a quality assurance engineer at the factory needs to estimate the true mean length of the shafts. she randomly selects four drive shafts made at the factory, measures their lengths, and finds their sample mean to be 1000 mm. the lengths are known to follow a normal distribution whose standard deviation is 2 mm. calculate a 95% confidence interval for the true mean length of the shafts. input your answers for the margin of error, lower bound, and upper bound.

Igure 1 and figure 2 are two congruent parallelograms drawn on a coordinate grid as shown below: 4 quadrant coordinate grid showing two parallelograms. figure 1 has vertices at negative 5, 2 and negative 3, 4 and negative 4, 7 and negative 6, 5. figure 2 has vertices at 5, negative 2 and 7, negative 4 and 6, negative 7 and 4, negative 5. which two transformations can map figure 1 onto figure 2? reflection across the y-axis, followed by reflection across x-axis reflection across the x-axis, followed by reflection across y-axis reflection across the x-axis, followed by translation 10 units right reflection across the y-axis, followed by translation 5 units down
