roth mobs have done calculations to determine the initial velocity and angle needed to complete the
task. the "raving radicals have calculated that their catapult can ning the bale with an initial
velocity of 54.246 feet per second and have bragged that they will successfully hit their target. the
"confident coeficients have calculated that their catapult can fing the bale with an initial velocity
of 44.242 feet per second and have bragged that they will successfully hit their target.
write the projectile motion equation that models the height of the burning bale of hay as a function
of time for the "raving radicals" and also for the "confident coefficients".
use the projectile motion equations from each mob to:
a) determine how long the burning bale of hay is in the air. state an approximate answer rounded
to the nearest tenth of a second.
b) determine the maximum height of the bale of hay reached by each group? how long does it
take for it to reach that height?
c) determine which of the mathematical mobs will get the burning bale of hay over the castle wall.
how long will it take? round all answers to the nearest tenth of a foot, if necessary.
d) show your work and write a summary statement regarding your calculations and how you
determined which mathematical mob will successfully hit their target.
