discussion topic: what is an example of a composite figure in your home or community? how would you decompose it to find the area? can you think of another reason that it would be to decompose these figures in addition to making it easier to find the area of the figure?

An example of the a composite figure would be the floor plan of your house.

The floor plan of your house is one big shape. However, it is made up of many smaller shapes. For example, your room may be a square. The kitchen may be a rectangle. The hallway could be a longer thinner rectangle. You could have rooms in the shapes of trapezoids, triangles, etc.

answer: domain and range mean all possible values of x and y that could be substituted to the inequality. a solution means all possible values that make the inequality statement true. so while the range is still all real numbers, the solution is the shaded area, for which y will always be greater than the line of the function.
