Step-by-step explanation:

The sun is a luminous object, while the earth is a non luminous object.

Luminous object are objects that give off light; bright or shining.

While non luminous object are object that doesn't give light.

So, the X aspect of the earth received light from the sun when it is directly facing the sun and the other part of the earth will not receive light from the sun because they are been blocked by X.

This is what cause eclipse, we all know that the moon rotates round the earth and their will be a moment when the moon is between the earth and the sun, the moon is also a non luminous body will block the earth from receiving light from the sun and every where will be dark like.

At any moment, half of the world is in daytime and half is in night time.

The Earth is always spinning around – sometimes from where you stand on the Earth you can see the Sun (this is the daytime) and sometimes the part of the Earth where you are is facing away from the Sun so it is dark (this is the nighttime)
