Farmer Jack has a rectangular pasture for his eight cows. The pasture measures 700 feet by 1300 feet. Recently, Jack bought seven miniature cows that need much less space. He decides to attach the miniature cow pasture to the large one, like in the picture below, to make it easier to move the cows back and forth.
*the length of the smaller pasture is 700

a. Farmer Jack needs to decide the width of the smaller pasture. He wants to give his miniature cows plenty of space, but he also wants to save money on fencing. So he decides to give it the same proportions as the bigger pasture. What does it mean to have the same proportions?
b. If the two pastures have the same proportions, how can you find the width? How much fencing will Farmer Jack use overall for both pastures?
c. How much bigger is the big pasture than the small pasture? Explain how you decided this.
d. One day Farmer Jack accidentally left the fence between the two pastures open, so all the cows wandered freely throughout the two pastures and became mixed up. When Farmer Jack comes back, what is the probability he will find a cow in the large pasture?
