A local county is considering a budget proposal that would allocate extra funding toward the renovation of city parks. A survey is conducted to measure public opinion concerning the proposal. A total of 150 individuals responded to the survey: 50 who live within the city limits, and 100 who live in the surrounding suburbs. The local county wants to determine if there is any difference in preference for people who live in the city and people who live in the surrounding suburbs. The frequencies of responses are as follows: Favor Oppose
City 35 15 50
Suburb 55 45 100
90 60
Is there a difference in the distribution of opinions for city residents compared to those in the suburbs? Test at the .05 level of significance.
1) State the null and alternative hypotheses and set the alpha level.
2) Define the critical region.
3) Compute the test statistic
4) Make a decision
5) For chi-square for independence, compute the effect size if the decision is toreject the null hypothesis.
6) Write the test statistic in journal form.
7) Write-up your results.

1- what do you think the product of a nonzero rational number and an irrational number is? is it rational or irrational? make use of variables, the closure property of integers, and possibly a proof by contradiction to prove your hypothesis.2- why do we have to specify that the rational number must be nonzero when we determine what the product of a nonzero rational number and an irrational number is? if the rational number were 0, would it give us the same result we found in the first question?
