Task 1: Area of Regular Polygons Before you can create a formula for the area of any regular polygon, you first need to understand a new term. When a circle is inscribed in a regular polygon, it will contact the middle of each side of the polygon. The distance from the midpoint of each side of the polygon to the center of the circle is called the apothem of the regular polygon. Using the center point, you can dissect any regular polygon into smaller parts whose areas are more easily calculated. Given a regular polygon with five sides, how many congruent triangles can you dissect the polygon into using the center point and two adjacent vertices of the polygon? How about a regular polygon with seven sides or ten sides? Type your response here: Based on your answer to part a, how many congruent triangles would a regular n-sided polygon be dissected into?
