Which of the following relations describes a function? The diameter of a pizza and the number of slices of pepperoni on the pizza. Example: There could be a pizza with a large diameter with a few or large amount of slices. You could have a pizza with a diameter of 12 inches and decide to cut it to where it would have 6 slices or 8 slices. So if your x-value(domain, input, independent variable) represents the diameter of the pizza, and the y-value(range, output, dependent variable) represents the number of slices, then you would have (12,6) and (12,8) as your coordinates. The number of cars in a parking lot and the number of tires in the parking lot. Example: You will have 4 tires for every 1 car in a parking lot. There would be 16 tires if there were 4 cars, and 12 tires if there were 3 cars. So if your x-value(domain, input, independent variable) represents the number of cars in the parking lot, and the y-value(range, output, dependent variable) represents the number of tires, then you would have (4,16) and (3,12) as your coordinates. Your height and weight on your birthday each year. Example: On your 21st birthday, you could be 72 inches tall and 165 pounds. So if your x-value(domain, input, independent variable) represents your age, and the y-value(range, output, dependent variable) represents your height and weight, then you would have (21,72) and (21,165) as your coordinates. The classroom number and the number of students in the classroom at different times of day. Example: You can have many different amounts of students in a single classroom throughout the day. There could be 19 students in room 5 at one point of the day and 21 students in room 5 at a different time. So if your x-value(domain, input, independent variable) represents the classroom number, and the y-value(range, output, dependent variable) represents the amount of students at different times of day, then you would have (5,21) and (5,19) as your coordinates.
