An offshore wind turbine is 3km off the shoreline. The power operator is 7 km down the coast to the east of the turbine. For the electricity generated by the turbine to make its way to the power operator, the turbine must be connected to distribution lines and then to the network transmission lines located at the power operator. If laying the distribution lines cost twice times as much under water as it does on land, what path should the distribution lines follow in order to minimize the cost?
