A radical (square root of a number) is said to be in "simplest form" when all perfect squares have been

factored out and simplified: 32 can be factored as

✓16 - 2 which we can simplify to 16 72 which

we can simplify again to 4:72. Thereby, making the

number in the root the smallest number possible.

Always try to find the largest perfect square factor of the

radicand and write it as the first factor.
