2(y-5)=(3y-2) can’t solve it

y = -8

Use the distributive property to multiply 2 by y−5
2y−10 = 3y−2

Subtract 3y from both sides
2y −10 −3y = −2

Combine 2y and −3y to get −y
−y −10 = −2

Add 10 to both sides
−y = −2 + 10

Add −2 and 10 to get 8
−y = 8

Multiply both sides by −1
y = −8
