Hi all! Would anyone be able to explain the reasoning behind this as attached? I get how to solve the top line of the equation with the quadratic formula. But how does it equate to 0 because (x-2)^2 can't simply disappear, there must be an explanation to get rid of it. A hint is provided but I have no clue what 'multiply both sides by a polynomial to clear fractions' means. Any help would be appreciated as most people in my class are struggling on how to prove to solve this also. Please try and explain as simply as possible :)
