Okay so "y = mx+b is a linear equation that represents a line on a graph; m represents the slope of the line and b is the y-intercept (The y-intercept of this line is the value of y at the point where the line crosses the y axis.)

In y = 1.29x+2, 1.29 is equal to m, so that is your slope.

The 2 is equal to the b so your y-intercept is 2.

given the equation is 8+9z=-6, the first step would be to subtract the 8 from both sides:

8+9z-8=-6-8

since 8 minus 8 = 0, this would cancel out the 8. and since -6 minus 8 equals -14, the equation would look like this
