2. You are able to distribute -5, and you get -5x when it goes into x, and you get positive 10 because it is a negative times a negative. So the answer would be B, -5x + 10

3. On this type of problem, when there is a negative in the middle, you MUST turn it positive. This means you distribute the negative, and everything on the right of the minus sign changes to negative or positive. So it would change to -
(8x-6)+(x-4)
When you add, you get 9x-10, which is C.

4. Simply just add these two, which is what we got to on the last problem, and you get 20x-6, which is choice A.

5. For this, you substitute the numbers in the equation. So it would be -
2(5)-4(-1)
This would equal 14, which is A.

6. You substitute 4 for x, so it would be -
4^2 + 5
4 • 4 + 5
