What is y and x intercept of 3x-2y=12

These intercepts are plotted in Figure 3.1 and the line 3x + 2y = 12 is drawn through them. Figure 3.2: Adding the graph of y = x + 1. The second equation y = x+ 1 has slope-intercept form y = mx + b. Hence, the slope is m = 1 and the y-intercept is (0, 1).

First, put the equation in standard form for the equation of a line which is y = mx + b where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept:

3x - 2y = 12

-2y = -3x + 12

y = 3/2x - 6

We plug in 0 for x to find the y-intercept:

y = 3/2(0) - 6

y = -6

Now we can see the the y-intercept must be (0, -6).

Now to find the x intercept, plug in 0 for y:

0 = 3/2x - 6

3/2x = 6

x = 4

So the x intercept is (4, 0).
