Ok, so i may sound cookoo after asking this can we add a proper fraction and a mixed number i tried googling it but it didn't . and if so what is 5/8+1 1/4

Just conver them to mproper fraciton

1 and 1/4=1+1/4=4/4+1/4=5/4

5/8+5/4
make bottom numbers same
8

5/4 times 2/2=10/8

5/8+5/4=5/8+10/8=15/8=8/8+7/8=1 and 7/8

First change the proper fraction into a improper fraction. Then 1 and 1/4 is 5/4. Then multiply 5x5 as the numerator and 8x4 as the denominator. I should get 25/32 which then in a regular case you would simplify. It's not a cooku question
