Iam really not understanding how to find the slope. i have a graph with the coordinates (-3,3) and (1,-5). if someone could explain how to find the slope it would be greatly appreciated!

The slope between (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) is (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
given
(-3,3) and (1,-5)
slope=(-5-3)/(1-(-3))=(-8)/(1+3)=-8/4=-2

the slope is the rise/run or change in y divided by change in x, from left to right

so

(-3,3) to (1,-5)
(x,y)
from 3 to -5 is down 8 or -8
from -3 to 1 is up 4, or 4
rise/run=-8/4=-2

slope is -2

You have to take the 2 " y's " and subtract them. Then take the 2 " x's " and subtract them. After that divide the y's over the x's and you will get the slope. For example, -5-3=-8. Then 1-(-3)=4. Then -8/4=-2. The slope is -2.
