Mixed numbers can turn into improper fractions. Ex: 7 2/3 = 23/3 which divides back down to 7 2/3. To create improper fractions from mixed number you multiply the denominator by the whole number and add the numerator to the product of the whole number and denominator. ( 3*7=21+2=23) and you just keep the same denominator to then divide. 23/3 = 7 2/3
