The Answer is 108, simply you find the volume of the cube 6 x 6 x 6 = 216. Since there are 108  "1-inch" cubes that fill the big cube half way you divide the volume of the big cube 216 by 2, so 216/2 which 108 will be your answer because, if you have a big cubed box that measures 6 inches in width, height, and length and you have 216 "1-inch" cubes, then you fill the box halfway, you will be left over with 108 "1-inch" cubes. You can also think about this with a cup of water, if you pour 3 cups of water into a glass and you drink half of that glass you will have half a cup of water or 1.5 cups of water left, if you drink 1/3 of the glass you will have 2 cups left.
