Alyssa has one ribbon that is 10 inches long and 4 ribbons that are two feet long each if she lines up all the ribbons end to end, how many inches of ribbons will alyssa have in all?

1 foot = 12 inches
The 4 ribbons is 8 feet because each ribbon is 2 feet each 
You would multiply the 8 ft by 12 to convert the feet to inches 
8 ft. x 12in = 96in. 
Then add the remaining ribbon
96 + 10= 106 inches of ribbon 

You need to start out by converting all measurements to the same units, in this case, inches. You know there are 12 inches in a foot, so the ribbons that are 2 feet long are 24 inches. Then you can add everything or do a combination of adding and multiplying
10+24+24+24+24=106 inches of ribbon
Or
(4•24)+10=
96+10=106 inches of ribbon
