"A sloped mountain road is 12.7 km long. It covers a horizontal distance of 8.9 m.
What is the change in elevation of the road?"

My question about this question is. if the length of the mountain (b) is 12.7 how can the hypotenuse (c) be 8.9 m which is less than b? The Pythagorean theorem states that c > b and a

Is this not a right angled triangle? My test is about the pythagorean theorem.
