I dont understand mean or median. Can someone help?

both of these are ways to kinda categorize numbers.

MEAN- you're finding the average. average and mean are synonymous. meaning they're the exact same. with the mean, all you have to do is add all the numbers up and then divide that by however many numbers you added up

lets say you need to find the mean of a domain and you're given this set of numbers:

{1,2,3,4,5,6,7}

the sum is 28. You divide it by 7 (bc thats how many numbers you added up) and you get your mean to be 4

The MEDIAN is going to be simpler than you may think. put all the numbers in numerical order, greatest to least or least to greatest. it doesn't matter.

Then find the number in the middle. Some people like crossing off the numbers on either end until you get to the center. So like marking off 1 then 7 then 2 then 6 etc.

The median is 4.
