What is a square root?​

A number multiplied by its self for ex 7 x 7 = 49 square root of 49 is 7

A square root of a number is a value that, when multiplied by itself, gives the number. 6 · 6 = 36, so a square root of 36 is 6. You are probably curious why I said a square root and not the square root. - 6 · - 6 = 36. - 6 is a square root of 36. The symbol is √ which always means the positive square root.
