Drinking tea appears to offer a strong boost to the immune system. In a study of 10 participants, blood samples were taken before and after one week of drinking 5 cups of tea a day (the participants did not drink tea prior to the study) and the levels of interferon gamma were measured, which is a molecule that fights bacteria, viruses, and tumors. The mean production went from 155 pg/mL to 448 pg/mL after drinking tea.
