While in New York, an epidemic breaks out. Howie just knows it the Zombie Virus and everyone will turn into zombies! Howie wants Jason to help him figure
out how many people will be turned into zombies in a month's time. What about a
year’s time?

Use the formula
Where represents the uninfected population
represents the initial population
r represents the rate at which the virus is spreading
t represents the time in years

 In one month’s time, how many people will be infected as compared to those
that are not infected?
 In one year’s time, how many people will be infected as compared to those
that are not infected?
 Do you, as Jason, agree with Howie that this is the zombie virus, or is Jason
just humoring Howie?
Howie sees this article and shows it to Jason. Howie just knows it has to
be the zombie virus! Later that day, they hear there are now a total of 15
people infected by the virus. The virus is spreading at a rate of
approximately 25%! If there are 19,746,227 people in New York City, how
many people will be infected in a month’s time compared to those not
infected? What about in a year’s time?
