Billy is building a rectangular dog pen that he wishes to enclose. The width of the pen is to be two yards less than its length. If the area of the dog pen is 15 square yards, how many yards of fencing will he need to completely enclose the pen? Hints
This is a two part problem. First setup/solve an equation for the area (it should become a quadratic equation), then use your answers to find the amount of fence Billy should need.
Try using a variable ‘x’ for the length of the dog pen. You shouldn’t need any other variables than that.
Remember area = length * width: you need each part
