The DePeppo children, Ann, Debbie, Damian, and Adam created a contest to test their athletic abilities and physical strength. They threw objects into the air to see who was the best. These four equations depict the travel of the objects they threw.
y1= −16x^2 + 62x + 10
y2= −16x^2 + 75x
y3= −16x^2 + 38x + 60
y4= −16x2 + 20x + 10

Understanding Quadratic Functions
Using Desmos calculator – graph these four quadratics. Use the scale of 0.25 to help you get a good visual of the equations.
How to use Desmos
Use the information below to determine which equation belongs to which sibling, as well as the object which was thrown and the age order.
The youngest launched his object from atop the playset.
Ann climbed a tall tree to launch her object.
Damian’s object went the highest.
Debbie’s object was in the air the shortest amount of time.
The arrow was shot by the oldest.
The golf ball went 87 feet into the air.
Ann shot her arrow higher than the tennis and bowling balls.
The bowling ball reached its maximum height just under 1 second.
Damian’s ball was in the air twice as long as the 2nd oldest sibling.
The object of the youngest brother was in the air for more than 4 seconds.

Assignment Instructions
Submit a graph of the four functions.
Write a paragraph about each child including the order of their ages, the object they threw, approximately how high the object traveled and which equation modeled the height of their object.

Suppose that 3% of all athletes are using the endurance-enhancing hormone epo (you should be able to simply compute the percentage of all athletes that are not using epo). for our purposes, a “positive” test result is one that indicates presence of epo in an athlete’s bloodstream. the probability of a positive result, given the presence of epo is .99. the probability of a negative result, when epo is not present, is .90. what is the probability that a randomly selected athlete tests positive for epo? 0.0297
