What are 2 ways gravitational potential energy affects us

Gravitational potential energy is the energy of which something has depending upon how far away it is from the center of gravitation. For example, a piano would have just a sliver of GPE (gravitational potential energy) if it were only a centimeter above the ground, but if it were a mile above the ground it would go out with a bang.

The first way GPE affects our lives is a waterfall. You see, the water atop the waterfall is being pulled towards the earth and as it is it spreads out. Then it falls off the cliff and its GPE turns into GKE (gravitational kinetic energy, when soemething actually starts to fall) as it falls. If it weren't for GPE waterfalls couldn't exist.

The perfect example would be Newton's famous apple. as the apple hung from its tree, gravity pulled on it, and eventually, it fell. Its GPE turned into GKE as it fell towards Newton's head. Then came the realization of gravity to Newton.
